At 8 am  We will pick you up from your accommodation. We drive you to Nui Dat stopping at  Baria City to get a travel permit and some flowers to lay at the Long Tan cross.

Luscombe airfield: the airfield was built by 1 Field Squadron. Royal Australian Engineers for the 1st Australian Task Force at Nui Dat. The airfield was opened on 5 December 1966 and named in honor of Captain Bryan Luscombe. Who had been killed in action during the Korean War on 5 June 1952? The former runway is now a wide street in the local village.

Luscombe bowl was the home of the concerts. It is put on for the troops and holds wonderful memories for Vietnam Veterans. By their very presence, the entertainers lifted the morale of the Australian troops. They were reminded that they were supported by their families and friends back home.

We visit a primary school and kindergarten which was established by the Australians (AVVRG- the Australian Veterans’ Vietnam Reconstruction Group and later on Australian Volunteers Group) and the local government.

After that, we continue to visit the Worldwide Arms Museum, the first private weapon museum in Vietnam. The museum is owned by Robert Taylor, a British national whose wife is Vietnamese. The man has lived in the city since 1991. The local authority has offered a lease for Taylor at the said address for the opening of the museum. On display at the museum are over 2,000 items ranging from guns and swords to army uniforms dating back to between the 17th and 20th centuries.

They originate from nations around the world such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, Japan, and the Netherlands. More than 500 weapons and army uniforms will be exhibited at the museum, Taylor said.

It is open to the public from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm daily.
